Design for X, is a term used to describe different design concerns of designers and engineers. In many companies, most of the designers bear both the responsibility of designers and engineers, which means that they need to consider manufacturability while making their designs.
However, is this workflow really making sense to designers? I will give a big “no”, for traditional workflow, but not for users with CAD software like SolidWorks.
Parallel thinking sounds efficient. But many research stating that human brain could not give excellent performance under this way. Therefore, SolidWorks help user to check their models’ manufacturability automatically, without putting so much efforts on verifying whether the design making sense or not.
